Printing of Land Records for Revenue Department, Karnataka

Revenue Department had implemented a major e-Governance initiative programme “Bhoomi – Computerization of Land Records”. Under this project all the agricultural land records pertaining to 70 lacs of farmers in Karnataka, had been computerized and these records (RTC-Record of Rights Tenency and Crop Certificate) were provided to farmers from various kiosks set up by the Revenue Department at the taluk offices and through village telecentres called “Nemmadi Kendras”. The updation of records was done through field verification by the Village Accountants for which they were provided with a copy of the computerized RTCs. The Deputy Commissioners were providing a copy of the RTCs to the Village Accountant intermittently as it was a very time consuming process. All across the State, nearly 1.5 cr RTCs had to be printed and supplied.

Revenue Department then recognized the fact that, such large volumes printing required heavy duty production printers. Using such technology would reduce the cost to the Government and therefore they wanted to get RTCs of whole State printed centrally. This would result in lower cost and supply of these records in time to Village Accountants.

In May 2009, out of 1.5 crore, the company printed 90 lacs RTCs, packed in 55000 files, delivered to 90 taluks across Karnataka, and collected 12700 signatures from Tahsildars and Village Accountants in a short duration of 40 days.
